Simply the best Tex-Mex on planet earth. Everything is always fantastic, but I highly recommended the Bean and Cheese Botanas with lettuce & tomato as an appetizer, and the Chile Rellenos for your main course. The Chile Rellenos are made proper with Anaheim peppers (not poblanos) and are always spectacular. The Green Chicken Enchiladas are also amazing. Just can't say enough good things about this awesome place. Love it, love it, love it.
When passing through town, we wanted to grab some food to go. We saw reviews for Angels and decided to stop in. It was about 1230 on a weekday, and the place was packed! All the tables inside and several outside were filled. One lady seemed to be handling the front of the house, and, while she was busy, she was very friendly and attentive and handled all the customers with no problem and a smile on her face. We got a few orders of beef and chicken tacos in a very timely manner, and they were outstanding!
For a place with like 10 tables the food is remarkably good. Chicken fried steak is spot on, and im not sure how they make the fries so special. The #3 plate was excellent, a bit more New Mexico than texmex, so a nice change for Austinite travelers. There's something magical in their red sauce, so much so we bought a 32 oz to go container so we can continue to enjoy. Friendly family service. Highly recommended. Oh, and when you see like a dozen dps and cbp vehicles out front for breakfast you know they got it going on.
When looking for Mexican food after our arrival in Marfa, Marfa Burrito came up but it's closed for dinner... Angel's is close by and we decided to try it out Yes, we can get great Mexican dishes in California but Tex-Mex is a different beast altogether. Definitely the sauces have more of a punch which is highly appreciated by the two of us. Combo plate and beef / chicken botanas are very different from what we're used to. Mannn, the sauce is awesome and combining the red and green pepper ones makes for tons of flavor. As dessert we had a half order of sopapillas that were sumptuous and delicious..... 9/10 on the food. Service wise, nice staff - it's a simple setup and it worked out fine at the end. Lastly, the place is equally simple and rugged which is fitting for Marfa, Just the right food at the right time for two tired travellers.
Combo #1, hell yeah! I had the christmas beef enchiladas with fresh onion and they didn't miss. Friendly and family-owned restaurant. The chips and salsa were awesome!
I went six months ago in may and I still think about this food frequently. I eat Mexican food all the time, BUT THIS IS SOME OF THE BEST!!! The owner and people there are so sweet. I would definitely reccomend Angel’s!
We loved it! Very good Mexican food. Definitely recommend. Prices were good, portions are good sized. They even make their own chicken fried steak! We also had tacos and enchiladas. I loved the Christmas sauce (half red, half green). The green was a little cheesy and sooo good. Red salsa had the perfect amount of spicy. They were busy and still provided good service with very little wait. Great addition to the area. Will return!
Delicious, hearty and flavourful food with great friendly service! We had the guacamole, Asada plate and Spanish steak (I learned it is a chicken fried steak with a cheesy green chili sauce) - everything was yummy! The salsa packed a spicy kick! Prices are really reasonable for rather large plates. Place just opened 2.5 months ago and the folks really serve great food with love! We were just passing through Marfa and looking for a late lunch at 3pm. Most places were closed but Angel and her family were there to welcome us with a great little restaurant! Must try! Will be back.
